We
dedicate our lives to fulfilling our mission: "We must make
our guests glad they crossed the threshold that is to be their last
boundary. We must make them as comfortable and happy as if their
own people had kept them and put them into the very best bedroom.
We must love them." Each patient is given the physical, spiritual,
and emotional support needed to accept the limitations imposed by
illness.
Primary
care is given by the nursing sisters. A staff of nursing assistants
help the Sisters in the men's wards. Care is very much one-on-one.
Each patient has one Sister responsible for his or her care through
the whole day, through the whole week. This individual care and
attention helps to make the patient feel comfortable and secure,
a part of the Sisters' family.
The
day begins with the Sisters serving breakfast and providing morning
care and organized activities. After the midday meal there is a
quiet time when the patients take part in activities of their choice,
have visitors, or just enjoy a quiet afternoon. After supper, the
Sisters prepare the patients for the night and make sure they are
comfortable.
We
are committed to providing quality care, while preserving our patients'
independence and dignity as much as possible.
